As a member of the Masterpiece family, the case is made of precious platinum and finished at the Micro Artist Studio of Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri. This high-end watch studio was established in 2002 to produce special editions of exceptional horological excellence and the highest level of craftsmanship.

Interestingly, although the 38.5mm platinum case is engraved entirely by hand, it is first polished using the Zaratsu distortion-free mirror finish that we associate with the best Grand Seiko watches. The compact case size is complemented by a thickness of 9.8mm – including the domed sapphire crystal – which is much thinner than many models that Grand Seiko makes, making it an instant dress watch appeal. The dial is decorated with a birch-inspired pattern, with a slightly different texture than earlier versions; the cutouts seem less prominent than the Hi-Beat (SLGH005) dial, but more pronounced than the Spring Drive (SLGA009).
